Cornwall Miniature Wargames Association is a group of wargamers who get together every couple of weeks to play games using miniatures, board games and to chat about all aspects of the wargaming hobby. The site aims to give anyone interested in coming along a flavour of the kind of things we we get up to.
Why not come along to one of our sessions? The first one is free. As you would expect in a place like Cornwall, we are a pretty friendly, laid back bunch of people so we don't tend to get too competitive about winning and losing (that's not to say that we don't have some very accomplished gamers in our midst).
Once you decide to join, annual membership costs £10 and a table fee of £3 is payable for every session you attend. We also ask for 50p per session to cover refreshments. CMWA does not seek to make a profit - the membership and table fees go towards the cost of the hall, competition prizes and replacement of club terrain. If the bank account starts looking too full we just lower the table fees.
Sessions run from 9am to 5pm on every other Sunday (please see the Calendar section for dates), giving us plenty of time for several smaller games or one major battle. There are usually two or three different games running at any given meeting.
We have a variety of tables and boards, allowing us to set up anything from a small skirmish to the Battle of Waterloo. The club owns a good stock of terrain tiles and smaller hexagonal tiles, plus some of those nifty GW mats.
Members and guests help themselves to tea and coffee throughout the day. The shop next door sells pasties. What more could you want?
